Back in teenage years while still in high school, it was not just a dream but rather an urge to get into the creative of fashion. It all started while LIYA was learning and working in artists atelier in Vienna, getting ready to continue her higher education in Arts.
Back in the day she was not sure which profession she wanted in fashion but she knew that she wanted to work in that industry as a designer, stylist, illustrator, pattern maker, etc.
LIYA got the opportunity to move to Italy and start her BA in Fashion design studies, first at Polimoda Firenze and later IED Milano.
At first it was never an ambition or plan to start namesake brand. After returning to her hometown Tbilisi, Georgia where fashion scene was emerging and creative minds and projects were all around the town, it felt rather natural to start experimenting and developing her own signature brand.
Together with her cousin and business partner Anna, they worked on kid’s wear brand but then quite soon extended and developed into womenswear. In 2017 contemporary womenswear brand LIYA was born.
The debut collection caught attention of international press and buyers. From the very first season LIYA was able to secure sales and company started to grow day by day.
Since then, LIYA has been presenting collections four times a year during sale season in Paris, participating in Fashion week twice a year. Extending womenswear into jewellery and accessories and launching online shop.
From the beginning of the brands launch it has gathered loyal following from customers and influencers alike. LIYA's pieces are worn by Gabriel Coinsil Maja Malnar, Karen Wazen, Nathalie Fanj, Queen Rania of Jordan, The Young Emperors, Lily Collins, Doina Ciobanu, Gizele Oliveira, Anna Rosa Vitello, Bettina Looney, Tine Andrea and many more.
The brand inspiration comes from its customers and thus the idea of collaborations was born, with Joana Sanz, Maja Malnar and Kashkask Skincare.. Collaborations bring challenging and creative push to the brand to develop and reach out into different directions. This versatility is crucial part of the brands DNA.
All LIYA products are created in our atelier and workshop. All fabrics and materials are handpicked and handmade with particular attention to the details.
